Ages
Players who were born between 2018-2022 and have completed at least one learn to skate or beginner skating program.
When
LTP has two sessions, Fall and Winter.
Fall session:
Sundays starting in October
Time: 9:40-10:30
Winter session:
Sundays starting January
Time: 9:40-10:30
The Learn to Play (LTP) program is designed for children age four and up who have had at least one year of Learn to Skate or a comparable beginner ice skating program. Boys and Girls from Reading and surrounding towns are welcome to join the fun.
The LTP program develops the players' skating skills and incorporates the fundamentals of hockey with supervised instruction. Our goal is to ensure all kids have a positive experience on the ice, develop hockey skills while having fun, and fall in love with the game of hockey.

All sessions are held at the Burbank Ice Arena in Reading, MA
WHAT IS NEEDED?
LTP Skaters should be in full hockey gear. Skates, Stick, Helmet, Chest Pad, Elbow Pads, Shin Guards, hockey socks, hockey pants and hockey Jersey.

LEARN TO PLAY - FALL 2026
Reading Youth Hockey is partnering with Boston Hockey Skills and Chris Dyment Hockey to offer two Learn to Play sessions, one in the fall and one in the winter. The program is for children who have completed at least one learn to skate or comparable skating program and is ready to learn the basic fundamentals of hockey.
The fall program typically runs on Sundays at Burbank Ice Arena from 9:40-10:30 for 10 weeks, times to be confirmed prior to the session. Expectation is that the program will begin in early October. There will be no LTP on Thanksgiving weekend, November 29th.
Winter program dates are TBD, but will begin after the new year.
When you register your child please note this registration is only for the Fall Session. Winter registration will open late fall and you will need to register for that separately.
